My research focuses on understanding how extracellular vesicles (EVs) from circulating tumor cells (CTCs) contribute to cancer metastasis, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Specifically, I investigate whether EVs released from CTCs that produce microtentacles (mcTNs)—cytoskeletal protrusions that enhance adhesion and reattachment—can induce mcTN formation in non-mcTN-producing CTCs. This could reveal a novel mechanism of metastatic progression, where mcTN-positive CTCs influence other tumor cells through EV-mediated signaling.
Additionally, I study the effects of Diffusing Alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy (DART) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), assessing its impact alone and in combination with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and anti-PD1 immunotherapy.
